For the first time since COVID began, families were able to get out of their cars and walk through the Thanksgiving foods distribution tables at Burke UMC in Burke, VA. Each family also received a handcrafted potholder.

Families enjoyed a warm welcome by the 14+ volunteers waiting to serve them.
You could feel the community connection in the crisp Fall air. A lovely day for sharing Thanksgiving fixin’s!

Volunteers checked out the potholders too!
The best part of the day for me were the Thank You’s, comments, and smiles shared when people received their new potholders.
“I remember these from home! I haven’t seen them around here. Thank you!”
“May I have a blue one?” Giant smile when he mentioned beach theme and he got a beach themed potholder!
“Oh, wow! Thank you.”
“Gracias!”
A forlorn looking person whose face lit up upon hearing that these were hand made by weavers from all over the U.S. who sent them here, just for us to give out today. That was best smile of the day!
Weavers from 20 states brought warmth and smiles to Burke, UMC.
THANK YOU!
