Our primary goal of gathering at least 500 potholders was reached this week! WOO HOO!

Potholder weavers from all over the U.S. are bringing something extra special to at least 500 families in need at Thanksgiving. Here are stories and pics from my visits to all 3 food pantries last week.

The Assitance Center of Towson Churches (ACTC) in Towson, MD serves about 3,000 families in the greater Towson area at Thanksgiving. This is their first year supporting THXGPP and they are on track to receive over 200 potholders. We hope to bring them closer to 300! Stay tuned.
All potholders received between now and distribution day will go to ACTC because we’ve already met the goals for Burke UMC’s Food Co-op and the Hampden Food Pantry in Baltimore!
See the poster on the ACTC wall? Handwoven potholders truly add important ‘FEEL’ to the Thanksgiving boxes distributed by ACTC. Weavers are sharing that special feel with a lot of heart. Check out the pics below to see some of the personal notes weavers have shared.

Burke UMC’s Food Co-op in Burke, VA anticipates serving about 200 families this Thanksgiving. In its second year supporting THXGPP, Burke is the primary drop-off and mailing address for weavers. Burke has 200 potholders bagged and ready to share!

200 Tagged and Bagged!
Burke UMC is ready to distribute.
Patterns and colors and weaving, oh my!

Tagging and bagging continue at my home. Check out some of the thoughtful notes that weavers sometimes share with their work. Notes are included in the bags. When only one copy of a note is received, we copy it and add it to the potholders that were included in that shipment.

While I also enjoyed the great pleasure and hospitality of visiting the Hampden Food Pantry in Baltimore, MD, I forgot to take pics. Apologies. They are very excited to be distributing potholders this year for the first time. Look for special pics from Baltimore next week!
Donate today!
Potholder donations can be mailed to:
c/o Burke UMC 6200 Burke Centre Parkway, Burke, VA 22015
ACTC Attn: Tammy, 116 W. Pennsylvania Ave., Towson, MD 21204
These 2 recipient food pantry locations are staffed daily and accept donations directly by mail or in-person drop-off. If they receive more than they need, they will work with me to get extras to the third location. No worries about receiving too many b/c one of the locations can take up to 3,000 potholders! They are an Association of Churches serving multiple locations. This year’s goal is for us to help them serve one of the many locations they are connected to. Any ‘extra’ will first go to serving a second location and so on.
The November 14 deadline includes wiggle room
One pantry plans to distribute Thanksgiving food boxes on Saturday, 11/19, and another on Monday and Tuesday, 11/21 and 11/22. The third location distributes on Wednesday, 11/23. If you can get your contributions to us on or before November 14, we will have plenty of time for tagging, bagging, and making sure each location has what they need.
THANK YOU
to all the wonderful weavers out there for sharing your time, talent, and care with families that you will likely never meet. This is what we humans do when we are at our best. Namaste.
