300 already in! Deadline of November 14 Approaching

With a goal of raising 500 to 1,000 potholders, I’m thrilled to share that 300 have already been received and many more are pledged. The thoughtfully themed colors and designs are AMAZING!

THXGPP 2022 is well on the way to achieving our goal of raising between 500 to 1,000 handwoven potholders for families in need. 300 are in hand and many more are pledged!

One of the weavers asked how many weavers are contributing? Good question.

Answer: I don’t know.

Perhaps one of the best things about THXGPP is the voluntariness and sense of community caring from/with everyone involved. Weavers contribute if they choose, when it makes sense for them, and however many works for them. Truly, all are welcome.

In the end, each weaver is touching at least one family in a very special, supportive, community-connecting way. Stranger supporting stranger as we share the common ground of navigating challenging times.

There is still time to get your contributions in!

Potholder donations can be mailed to:

c/o Burke UMC 6200 Burke Centre Parkway, Burke, VA 22015

ACTC Attn: Tammy, 116 W. Pennsylvania Ave., Towson, MD 21204

Two of the 3 recipient food pantry locations are staffed daily and can accept donations directly. If they receive more than they need, they will work with me to get the extra to the third location. No worries about receiving too many b/c one of the locations let me know that they can take up to 3,000 potholders! Gulp. Yep, they are an Association of Churches serving multiple locations. This year’s goal is for us to help them serve one of the many locations they are connected to. Any ‘extra’ will first go to serving a second location and so on.

The November 14 deadline includes a little wiggle room. One pantry plans to distribute Thanksgiving food boxes on Saturday, 11/19, another on Monday and Tuesday, 11/21 and 11/22. The third location typically distributes on Wednesdays and I have not yet confirmed if that will be 11/16 or 11/23. If you can get your contributions in on or before November 14, we will have plenty of time for tagging, bagging, and making sure each location has what they need with room for sharing any extras.

THANK YOU

to all the wonderful weavers out there for sharing your time, talent, and care with families that you will likely never meet. This is what we humans do when we are at our best. Namaste.
