THXGPP Is Growing: Four new food pantries in six states for 2026!

Big news! The Thanksgiving Potholder Project is expanding!

This year, we’re welcoming four new partner locations, so more families will receive a handwoven potholder with their Thanksgiving food pantry distributions. And weavers now have more options for where to send their amazing work.

It’s been a while since the last post, so let me catch you up on what’s new. First, check out this map showing which states will share potholders this year and where our generous, talented 2024 weavers came from. Sorry, we don’t have a 2025 map, but there will be a 2026 map!

2026 has been one of the busiest years yet for THXGPP, even though I haven’t been posting about it. Weavers across the country kept the potholders coming all year long, without missing a beat. That steady generosity is why this project exists, and shows how weavers across America are showing how to care for and support each other in times of need; one potholder at a time.

On my end, I moved across the country, from the East Coast to the Seattle area, while also managing minor but time-consuming health issues. Working on THXGPP through it all was my therapy. There’s something rewarding in receiving beautifully crafted potholders, and something grounding about bagging and tagging potholders made with care in the middle of a chaotic year. Best of all, when it came time to move, I dropped off the prepped potholders at local pantries that will hold them for Thanksgiving.

When dropping off the potholders, it was heartwarming to hear comments like, “You can’t move. THXGPP has become a tradition for us; we need you!” Those words inspired me to ask whether they’d be willing to take over for their location. They’d need to receive the potholders, take pictures, safely store them for the Fall, and keep me informed so I can send thank-yous and properly track locations for our 2026 map! Then, they’d need to commit to bagging, tagging, and beautifully displaying the potholders to offer them up as a gift of choice to their food pantry families, with patience and kindness. The response was a resounding yes!

Meanwhile, weavers kept weaving, sending their potholders to a THXGPP Coordinator or straight to me. What a team!

Here are weavers working to support THXGPP.

The Six States – and how to get potholders to them

Please join me in welcoming our new THXGPP Coordinators, who will coordinate efforts at food pantries in each state. They are eagerly awaiting your contributions! Please send your potholders to arrive by the end of October or early November, if possible.

Here’s where to send your potholders this year:

Please send your amazing work to the place that feels most right to you. All of your contributions lead to the same place: a family whose Thanksgiving gets a little warmer because someone took the time to make something by hand just for them.

Thank you, as always, for weaving warmth and care into so many Thanksgivings. Thanks to you, THXGPP has distributed over 4,000 potholders in the past five years. We hope to add at least another 2,000 to that number in 2026.

Including dignity at the Thanksgiving table is what it’s all about.

None of this would be possible without the weavers across America who make it happen. THXGPP simply connects the dots.

Thank You!
